Solar Site Manager

Job Description

A solar site manager oversees the day-to-day operations of a solar project site, ensuring the project  is completed on time, within budget, and to high-quality, safety, and environmental standards.  


Responsibilities include managing and supervising site personnel and subcontractors, coordinating  logistics, monitoring project progress against the schedule, and managing risk and quality control throughout the construction and commissioning phases.

Job Responsibilities

Project management: 

  • Supervise and manage all site activities, from groundworks to final handover. 

  • Create and maintain project schedules and monitor progress to ensure deadlines are met.  

  • Manage the project budget and control costs.  


Safety and quality: 

  • Ensure strict adherence to all safety, environmental, and quality standards.  

  • Conduct safety briefings and enforce compliance with regulations.  

  • Perform quality checks and inspections to ensure work meets required standards.  


Team and subcontractor management: 

  • Lead, manage, and coordinate both internal teams and external subcontractors.  

  • Allocate duties and provide guidance to the on-site team.  


Reporting and administration: 

  • Prepare and submit daily, weekly, and other status reports to senior management.  

  • Maintain project documentation and administer necessary certifications.  


Stakeholder coordination: 

  • Act as the primary point of contact on-site for all stakeholders, including clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and local authorities.  

  • Coordinate with external bodies for necessary permits and commissioning procedures. 

Job Requirements 

Technical: 

  • A strong understanding of electrical, mechanical, and civil aspects of solar power plant construction is crucial. Experience in troubleshooting PV systems is often required.  


Leadership:  

  • The ability to lead teams, motivate staff, and manage subcontractors effectively is essential.  


Organizational:  

  • Strong organizational skills are needed to manage schedules, resources, and logistics efficiently.  


Communication:  

  • Excellent communication skills are necessary for coordinating with multiple stakeholders and reporting on project status.  


Education:  

  • A degree in a relevant field like Civil, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering is often required.
